Taishet Anode Factory
Taishet Anode Factory (TAF) is one of RUSAL's two largest investment projects in the Irkutsk Region.
The project will provide baked anodes to the company's enterprises, primarily the Taishet Aluminum Smelter, where they will be used in the company's own ultra-powerful energy-efficient and environmentally friendly electrolyzers. In addition to TAS (Taishet Aluminum Smelter), baked anodes will be supplied to other RUSAL aluminum smelters: Sayanogorsk Aluminum Smelter, Boguchansky Aluminum Smelter and Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Smelter.
The volume of investments in the project is over 52 billion rubles.
The target production volume is 400 thousand tons of baked anodes, 150 thousand tons of calcined coke per year.
The implementation of such a large-scale project will ensure 100% localization of anode production, eliminate the consumption of imported products and, as a result, reduce dependence on external suppliers and guarantee the maintenance of an uninterrupted production cycle and raw material security for the aluminum industry.
The construction of the TAF is an important stage in the company's strategy aimed at raw material security. The project is based on the use of know-how developed in the RUSAL engineering and technology center and audited by the world leader in this field - R&D Carbon Ltd.
The construction of the anode factory and the Taishet aluminum plant is accompanied by investments by RUSAL in the development of infrastructure and improvement of the region.
The company invests in the construction of residential buildings (more than 1,000 apartments), the development of the railway station's track communication, the construction of roads and a bridge, the introduction of utility networks, and the development of social infrastructure.
