KOS – Kazanorgsintez
Kazanorgsintez PJSC is one of the leading enterprises of the chemical industry of Russia and a strategically important production complex for the economy of the Republic of Tatarstan.
It is a domestic leader in the synthesis of high and low density polyethylene and the only manufacturer of sevilen, polycarbonates and bisphenol in the country.
In total, KOS produces more than 170 types of products: ethylene, high and low density polyethylene, polyethylene pipes, phenol, acetone, ethylene glycol, ethanolamines and other products of organic synthesis.
Key figures about the enterprise:
- 3 plants
- 170 types of products
- >1 million tons of materials per year
- 89.8% of products are certified
- 482 million rubles — current costs for environmental protection.
The enterprise was founded in 1958. In 2023, it will be 60 years since Kazanorgsintez released its first batch of products.
In early October 2021, Sibur and TAIF completed a merger deal based on Sibur Holding. The transaction included such Taif assets as TGK-16, Kazanorgsintez, and Nizhnekamskneftekhim.
In May 2023, SIBUR sold TGK-16 to TAIF as a non-core asset and is developing its own generation at both chemical plants in Tatarstan.
In 2023-2027, Kazanorgsintez will invest 70 billion rubles in production modernization, and the overall progress on the key project of modernizing the polymerization process line has already exceeded 70%.
